A KELOLAND non-profit is getting ready for its biggest fundraiser of the year.
Paws to Celebrate is this weekend at the Sioux Falls Convention Center.
This year marks the 11th Paws to Celebrate for the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society.
“It is a silent auction, live auction, wine pull, raffle,” SFAHS Special Events Coordinator Allison Kolander-Wyant said.
There will be lots of items up for grabs.
The money raised at Paws to Celebrate will be especially helpful this spring. That’s because the shelter is entering its busier time of the year.
Part of the reason is because spring is the start of kitten season.
“It’s starting to uptick now and I think now that the weather is getting nicer we always get more animals in. And I think for the most part right now is kind of quiet still, but we could turn around tomorrow and be hit with the rush,” SFAHS Executive Director Kori Baade said.
The money helps with a variety of needs, including medical costs.
“I think right now we are really on this track to get all of the animals spayed and netuered before they leave our shelter, which is a huge undertaking for us as a non-profit and anything we can do to fundraise for that is going to be very important,” Baade said.
The event is this Saturday, April 27 from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the Convention Center.
Tickets are still available at the shelter or online.
You’re also encouraged to pre-register to make check-in easier.
Tickets are $75 and include a seated meal, samplings from local chefs, and two drink tickets.
