MITCHELL, S.D. (KELO) — A vandal hit multiple properties around Mitchell this week. It didn’t take long for police to find their suspect. They arrested Isaiah Schryvers for a string of charges including eluding police.
KELOLAND’s Whitney Fowkes takes you to Mitchell for more information.
You can find the grafitti across town – from local parks to apartment complexes.
Some of the damage was at the lake not far from the Mitchell Prehistoric Indian Village.
“This was a big surprise and I have to admit I was concerned after I read about it that I’d come to work and find graffiti here, but I didn’t find any, so we’re breathing a big sigh of relief,” Cindy Gregg, Executive Director of the Mitchell Prehistoric Indian Village, said.
Gregg says someone has been moving around signs at the village as a prank. But the only damage you’ll find here was not caused by humans.
“We have not experienced any vandalism caused by human beings this spring. We have a beaver that’s vandalizing our trees right now,”
As far as the recent citywide vandalism spree, a lot of the damage is already cleaned up.
Police say more arrests are possible. If you have any information that could help with the investigation, contact Mitchell Police or crimestoppers.
