The calendar marked the beginning of spring days ago, but the real signs of the season are popping up all over KELOLAND. Lewis Drug is setting up its greenhouses. On Tuesday, workers were getting things ready at the store on 37th Street and Minnesota Avenue.
Store manager Randy Seney says the greenhouses tend to make people smile because they know winter weather is slowly leaving us.
“Everybody gets excited when they see the tents go up because they know in a couple of weeks we’ll be filling that baby with plants,” Seney said.
There aren’t any plants in the greenhouses just yet, but Seney says that’ll soon change.
“I think spring is kind of like the rebirth of the season for everybody. You know, you get outside. You get outdoors, you know. You get to rejuvenate your yards and everything. It’s just a fun time for everybody, I think,” Seney said.
As for when Lewis will put plants out, Seney says that depends on the weather. He says store leaders watch the forecast so they can make the best decision possible.
