Monday is a sweet day indeed.
It’s National Shortbread Day — in honor of the traditional Scottish treat enjoyed across the world.
It’s typically made with white sugar, butter and flour.
But there’s modern variations, which can include salt, ground rice, corn flour and frosting.
It’s called shortbread because of its “short” — or crumbly — texture.
You can mark the day by trying out a new shortbread recipe — and enjoying it over tea with a friend — or bring them to work to share with coworkers.
