National Picnic Day

Tueday is the perfect day to have lunch outside, if the weather holds up.

April 23rd is National Picnic Day.

The word ‘picnic’ comes from a French word that means a meal eaten outdoors. The national day calendar notes it goes back to a mid-18th century French dining experience.

Back then — apparently all you needed for a good time was a bottle of wine, a loaf of bread, some cheese and fruit.
