If you’re in the mood for a little road trip this weekend, an upcoming poker run has you covered.

On Saturday, the Cruisin’ for Critters Poker Run kicks off in Sioux Falls and ends in Harrisburg, with a couple stops in between in neighboring towns.

“We’ll ride rain or shine,” Special Events Coordinator Allison Kolander said.

The Sioux Falls Area Humane Society is getting revved up for one of its biggest fundraisers of the year.

This weekend marks the non-profit’s 18th annual poker run.

“Two years ago it was just gorgeous weather outside and we had upwards of 400 riders,” Kolander said.

On Saturday, the J&L Harley-Davidson parking lot will be full of motorcyclists ready to cruise for a good cause.

After the bikers leave Sioux Falls, they’ll set out on a journey through southeastern KELOLAND, and it’s all meant to drive up support for the shelter.

“For us, anything we can do to help promote charities and great organizations as well as get people out riding, that’s really what we rally behind,” J&L Harley-Davidson Owner Joe Entenman said.

If you’re not a bike enthusiast, don’t worry. You’re still invited to come along for the ride.

“If you just want to go on a ride in your car, feel free to do that too. But it’s all about riding and getting out and helping out in the community and being a part of great causes and organizations so that’s what we’re excited for,” Entenman said.

As for the shelter, staff members are happy to check a few items off the list of needs.

“Beds, blankets, toys, treats for the animals. It’s used for our medical fund, for our spay/neuter program,”  Kolander said.

While it’s just one day of riding, it could help put these animals on the road to a forever home.

You can register at the Humane Society or on its website up until tomorrow at 7:00 pm for $15 per poker hand.

You can also pre-register for $15 at J&L  Friday night when it hosts Bike night from 6-9.

On the day of the event, you can register for $20 from 11-1 at the motorcycle shop.
