McKennan Park Family Plans To Hold City Board Responsible For Home's Demolition

sioux falls, sd - The family that had to tear down their McKennan Park home says they plan to hold the Sioux Falls Board of Historic Preservation responsible.

The Sapienzas' attorney sent a letter to the board, saying they "intend to hold the Sioux Falls Board of Historic Preservation fully responsible for all of the damages sustained."
KELOLAND News was there as a crew demolished the Sapienza home last week. A judge ordered the demolition after ruling the house violated historic standards.

The Board approved plans for the home, however the home that was built differed from the plans board members approved. The owners have maintained they followed the guidance of the Board and the City of Sioux Falls while building their home.

Previously, their neighbors sued the City of Sioux Falls for negligence. The South Dakota Supreme Court did not uphold that.
