The McCrossan Boys Ranch in Sioux Falls may soon be known as one of the nation’s kindest locations.
The ranch has been running for 64 years and helps at-risk boys. Staff hope this recognition will show people all the good the ranch does.
“Our whole program is developed around the notion of trying to help these boys get a better life. If that would bring the kind of attention to what we do here and what our mission is that would be tremendous,” executive director Brian Roegiers said.
If the ranch is picked as one of the top ten finalists, it will be featured on national television and in the Reader’s Digest.
Staff members believe the ranch is deserving of the award.
“I think we all know we’re one of the nicest places in America. Everything that we do to help kids out here, just the beautiful scenery we have for boys that are transforming their lives out here. I definitely think we are worthy as one of the nicest places in America,” Director of Development Christy Menning said.
Menning says Reader’s Digest will pick the towns with the most social media posts and comments.
Reader’s Digest will make the decision a week from Tuesday.
