A Sioux Falls man is accused of stealing a car from a truck stop in northeast South Dakota and leading authorities on a pursuit.

According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, a 2000 Chevrolet Impala was reported stolen in Summit on Tuesday afternoon. When a trooper saw a vehicle matching the description on Interstate 29, the driver refused to pull over and started a pursuit about 15 miles north of Watertown.

Authorities were able to stop the car on I-29 near Clear Lake and the driver, 32-year-old Jason Pfuhl, was arrested after a short foot chase. A passenger, identified as a 30-year-old man, was not charged.

Pfuhl was on parole for drug charges in Brown County, according to the South Dakota Department of Corrections.
