Looking At The Flood Damage In Western KELOLAND

A week after flooding in Western KELOLAND, and communities are still trying to assess the damage.
In Bennett County, people have been maneuvering ruined roads.
KELOLAND News spoke with County Commissioner Judd Schomp on the phone, who said about some of the struggles they’re facing.
As you can see from this image over Vetal from Schomp, the damage to roadways is extensive.
Schomp took photos from an airplane over Bennett County.
Local officials believes the repairs will take most of the summer to fix.
They also have to repair the damaged culverts and massive washouts to gravel roads.
Local ranchers are also struggling to clear out the mess left behind from the floods.
Schomp says they are applying for federal money to help pay for some of this work, however nothing is guaranteed.
For now, they’ll keep doing what they can and hope for the best.
