SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — It was a busy night in downtown Sioux Falls.
Friday was the first First Friday with spring-like temperatures, and a new business opened in a key spot along Phillips Avenue.
KELOLAND News gives you a look inside Fernson Downtown.
One of the largest breweries in South Dakota has a new taproom.
Fernson Brewing Company is holding soft-opening events this weekend as it prepares to open its downtown location to the public on Monday.
“We loved our location before. It was just off the beaten path, so this is right in the middle of it,” Thompson said.
The new Fernson Downtown is near the entryway to downtown–right along Phillips Avenue near 12th Street.
“They probably have one of the best patios in downtown Sioux Falls, so we’re really excited to see what they do with the space,” Downtown Sioux Falls, Inc. Vice President Brienne Maner said.
Those patios will likely pick up steam over the next few months. Friday was the first First Friday with spring-like temps.
“May is a huge month for downtown Sioux Falls because we have the Art & Wine Walk. We’re adding a block party, and the new sculptures are installed that weekend. It’s like Christmas,” Maner said.
Brewing celebrations that the owners of Fernson can’t wait to tap into.
“We’re excited to be more of a part of downtown Sioux Falls,” Thompson said.
A downtown that’s looking up thanks to warmer temperatures.
