Local Restaurant Filling Backpacks For Sioux Falls Students

News

The rush is on for families counting down the days until school starts.

When the doors open in Sioux Falls, some students won’t have the supplies they need for the year. That’s why the Crooked Pint near the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center is hoping to fill 100 backpacks.

The local restaurant is looking for donations of notebooks, colored pencils and crayons. They’ll be collecting the items through the end of August.

“They can actually bring in school supplies to us and we put them in with the backpacks or they can donate $5 and we put them in a drawing for some really great prizes. The main being a free night stay at the Holiday Inn,” Crooked Pint General Manager Mandie Berberich said.

Crooked Pint is also collecting wipes and tissues for teachers. The restaurant opens at 6 a.m. during the week.
