Woman who stole checks out of mailboxes in Sioux Falls sentenced

A woman who admits to stealing checks out of Sioux Falls mailboxes, washing off the ink and trying to cash them is headed to federal prison.

Monday a judge sentenced Tessa Crawford to two months behind bars and four years of supervised release.

Court papers say the crimes happened between November of 2017 and February 2018. Crawford wasn’t charged in federal court until last fall.
