A Watertown man is in custody accused of theft and robbery.
Authorities say the suspect entered a business and stole the cash register and an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect left the scene on foot and was not located.
Later in the evening around 9, Watertown Police were dispatched to a business located in 10 block of North Broadway. Authorities were informed that someone had just attempted to rob the business and that the suspect displayed a knife.
Patrons inside the business held the male down until officers arrived. On scene, authorities arrested Troy Wall of Watertown.
While investigating the attempted robbery, authorities discovered that Wall might also be responsible for the theft that happened earlier in the evening.
Authorities executed a search warrant at Wall’s residence and found the stolen cash register and undisclosed amount of cash.
Wall was taken to the Codington County Detention Center where he remains in custody.
