Two Arrested For Assaulting Sioux Falls Police Officers

Local News

Two people were arrested in connection with an assault investigation.

Officers it started with a car crash Friday afternoon on the 700 block of South Jessica Avenue. A short time later — police were called back for a fight.

Authorities say a 16-year-old was throwing things around the house while a man and woman were arguing. Officers were worried the argument would get physical — so they tried separating them.

At that point, police say the 16-year-old boy got in the officer’s face. Police say while they were arresting the teen — the boy kicked two officers and the man punched one of the officers in the face and bit an officer’s hand.

Police arrested both the 18-year-old man and 16-year-old boy for assaulting law enforcement, resisting arrest and obstruction.

Authorities aren’t sure what started the fight, but believe the damaged car may have something to do with it.
