SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Sioux Falls Police have joined the investigation into an early morning house fire in the central part of the city Wednesday.
Police say they’re investigating it as an arson.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue was called to a home on North Nesmith Avenue, near Heritage Park just before 6:30 a.m.
You could see the smoke from blocks away. Firefighters say there were flames coming from the back of the house. The home is believed to be abandoned, but witnesses told police they saw people leaving the house as the fire started.
Police are following up on leads, but at this point no arrests have been made.
A structure fire near downtown Sioux Falls and an easterly breeze made for a hazy morning.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue was called to a house fire at the 300 block of North Nesmith Avenue Wednesday morning.
Crews were called to the scene just before 6:30 a.m. Those first on scene found smoke and flames coming from a house.

A KELOLAND News crew was on scene of the fire. Firefighters were fighting the fire at the back of the home.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue says the building was abandoned, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
No one was hurt.
