Sioux Falls Area Health Leaders Release Report

Local News

If you’ve ever wondered how long you will live, there’s now a map for that. Health officials in the Sioux Falls area have released the 2019 Community Health Status Report

The 72-page report says the community is following some national trends.  For instance, when it comes to your life expectancy, they found your zip code is a better indicator than your genetic code.

“There’s a difference of more than 14 years between neighborhoods in Sioux Falls with the lowest around 71 years and the highest just over 80 years,” Mary Michaels with the Sioux Falls Health Department said.

The report looks at everything from addiction and insurance rates to obesity.  Priorities highlighted in the report include better access to health care, behavioral health and addiction treatment and chronic disease.
