South Dakota State University says a suspect in a weekend assault it no longer in the state.
In a follow-up message to students, the school says the suspect in the sexual assault at Jackrabbit Village has been identified. The man is no longer in South Dakota, so University Police are now working jointly with out-of-state law enforcement to investigate.
In an email sent to students at South Dakota State University, authorities confirmed a sexual assault was reported on Sunday.
The assault allegedly occurred in Jackrabbit Village, a dorm on SDSU’s campus. In the email, SDSU Vice President for Technology and Safety Michael Adelaine said a resident was sexually assaulted by a man who is not believed to be an enrolled student at SDSU.
The suspect is an 18 to 20-year-old white male, approximately 5’6″ to 5’9″ and was last seen wearing a yellow University of Iowa sweatshirt and gray baseball cap.
University Police are asking for more information on the suspect’s whereabouts. Anyone with details about the incident can contact UPD at (605) 688-5117.
