Rare Surgery Allows New York Girl To Dance Again

A unique surgery is giving a New York girl who lost her leg to cancer a chance to dance again.

Delaney Unger has been a dedicated dancer since the age of three.

But, at age 12, she learned a rare bone cancer would require doctors to amputate her knee.

However, a rarely-used surgical option called rotationplasty is now giving this dancer hope.

Doctors were able to use her ankle and foot -- turned backwards -- as a new knee.

A lower- leg prosthesis now fits over over the foot, which the family nicknamed her "knankle".

Delaney -- now 13 and cancer-free --  hopes to resume dancing.

She also has a new dream -- to one day become a doctor.
