Police in Rapid City are investigating a stabbing homicide involving two brothers.
According to police, 54-year-old James Ladeaux was arrested for murder and two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer. Police say Ladeaux allegedly stabbed his brother Fredrick Ladeaux in an alleyway between Main Street and Saint Joseph Street on Monday night.
When police arrived, they found Fredrick, unconscious and bleeding, while James was sitting on the ground nearby. Life-saving measures were conducted while another officer tried to separate James from the scene. He refused and waved a knife at officers. Police tasered James and detained him.
Medics were unable to save Fredrick, who was later pronounced dead on scene.
James was transported to the Pennington County Jail. Police continue to investigate the the homicide along with the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office.
