If you think First Friday is only a summer event, think again.
Friday night's event in Downtown Sioux Falls is kicking off an inaugural nine-day winter carnival.
DTSF Vice President Brienne Maner says this is part of a goal to boost winter events, and make Sioux Falls a year-round destination.
"We want people to come downtown and spend time with each other. We get pent up, we get cabin fever. We have to remember this is where we live. We have all four seasons and we should just embrace them," Maner said.
The Sioux Falls Winter Carnival is supporting the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sioux Empire.
