PINE RIDGE RESERVATION, S.D. (KELO) – The lead singer of Grammy-winning Mumford & Sons visited the Pine Ridge Reservation recently devestated by flooding.
Marcus Mumford posted on the band’s Instagram this week saying he just got back from his first visit to Pine Ridge for a listening trip.
“I was anticipating meeting some amazing people, but I couldn’t have imagined the warmth and generosity of the welcome we received,” Mumford said. “Especially during such a difficult time.”
Mumford is encouraging people to send a letter to the White House to urge President Donald Trump to provide federal disaster relief to Pine Ridge.
“I was blown away by typical Oglala Lakota resilience and dignity,” Mumford said.
Late last week, Mumford visted Rice’s Rushmore Motorsports in Rapid City to loan a motorcycle.
