A 19-year-old Michigan man faces a $1,000 fine for climbing Mount Rushmore.

Park rangers arrested Zachary Schossau on Sunday.  They found him by George Washington’s face.

When a ranger confronted him, court papers say he said “I’m sorry dude… I was just doing it for the fun.”

On Monday, the teen pleaded guilty to climbing the monument and prosecutors threw out two other federal charges.

The National park Service reminds everyone that climbing Mount Rushmore is illegal.
