SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Sioux Falls homebuilders are turning a negative into a positive this week. A few months back, criminals took nearly $4,000 worth of tools from a McCoy Construction job site. That same site is now a beautiful and award-winning home on the Parade of Homes.
Chad McCoy and Chad Husman are being recognized for their talents and craftsmanship because of this beautiful new home in southern Sioux Falls.
“Makes us feel good. We strive to do unique things and hopefully people see it,” McCoy said.
While this house just picked up a Parade Of Homes Award of Excellence, back in March it was the scene of a crime.
“Had tools here for maybe ten hours and came back the next day and they were all gone. Doors were wide open. Kind of put a damper on our timeline,” McCoy said.
The theft set the McCoy Construction team back a few weeks and left a bad taste in their mouth. Now that they’re award winners, things are looking up.
“It changes the perspective on what the house has now. It’s more of a happy feeling instead of a sad feeling of somebody coming and taking your things. Now we have an award for it and it feels good. Having people recognize us for our work is a good feeling,” Husman said.
“It was bitter that way but sweet in a way that it all came together in the end and we won the award,” McCoy said.
What was once a wrench in their plans is now just a step on their ladder to success.
If you’d like to step inside the award-winning home, you can check it out on the Parade of Homes this weekend.
