Mayor TenHaken And Business Leaders Reflect On Trip To Haiti

Local News

The Mayor of Sioux Falls and local business leaders are gaining unique perspective from a city in Haiti.

Mayor Paul TenHaken and a dozen others, including Click Rain CEO Natalie Eisenberg, used their own vacation time and money to travel to Haiti and help those in need this past week. The group made the journey through the Dispatch Project organization and Mission Haiti. Eisenberg was struck by the level of poverty and is now sponsoring three students.

“These parents are under open-air roofs. Kids are sleeping on dirt floors. Yet they’re getting their kids up into sharp little uniforms, getting their hair done. The kids are then walking 2-3 miles to get to school and they’re making it. That was both a harsh reality but also really uplifting to me to know that they are working hard to get things done and be as successful as they can,” Eisenberg said.

During the trip, the group visited local schools, met with orphans and conducted home visits.
