Man faces charges after allegedly breaking into woman’s apartment

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A Sioux Falls man faces a long list of charges including violating a protection order after police say he threatened his ex-girlfriend.

Police say a 911 call came in on Friday night and they could hear screaming in the background.

Police say 31-year-old Charles Belt Junior kicked down the door at his ex-girlfriend’s apartment, pushed her into her room and threatened say her with a hammer.

Police say she eventually got out of the apartment and hid.

When officers arrived, they say Belt was armed with a knife and refused to come out of the apartment, so they sent in a K9 and police made an arrest.
