SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The man behind one of the biggest heroin busts in South Dakota history may soon be headed to federal prison.
Andy Ontiveros has signed an agreement with the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Minnehaha County Authorities arrested him in May after finding eight pounds of heroin and two pounds of fentanyl hidden in his pickup.
Ontiveros is pleading guilty to the fentanyl charge. In court papers, he admits he planned to sell the drug in South Dakota and in other locations.
In exchange for the guilty plea, a heroin charge will be thrown out
That means the Minneapolis man could spend anywhere from 10 years to life in prison. He'll be back in court next week.
