KELOLAND’s Don Jorgensen Will Be Media Representative For Berget Execution

Local News

One of the media representatives for Rodney Berget’s execution is KELOLAND News’ Don Jorgensen.

Jorgensen explained what his role will be.

Don Jorgensen: By law, the Department of Corrections has to invite one representative from the media to be a witness. The DOC asked KELO and KELO asked me a few weeks. I agreed given the long history I have of covering Berget. I’ve covered a few executions in my life as a journalist, but this is the first time I’ve ever been asked to be a witness to one. Lynette Johnson, RJ’s widow will also be in the witness room. This will be her second time witnessing an execution. She was there when other co-conspirator and killer Eric Robert died by lethal injection in 2012 for his role in the crime.

Don Jorgensen: I’ll be escorted into the prison at 12:30 p.m. , where they’ll conduct a search and I’ll be given a pencil and pad to take notes. I’ll have more on the execution Monday on KELOLAND News at 5 and 6.

Be sure to stay with KELOLAND News and KELOLAND.com for the latest on the execution.
