July 20 storm damage in KELOLAND

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Some people in Sioux Falls are cleaning up after severe thunderstorms came through the area this morning.

Strong wind knocked down several trees and power lines across the city, leaving several neighborhoods without power. One homeowner says a large tree fell down in his backyard.

“The wind was really picking up and the rain really started coming down. I was sitting in the front part of the house and saw a little flash of light out of the corner of my eye and the power went out, and I didn’t really hear it, but what happened was the tree went down and went across the power lines that run between Glendale and Hawthorne,” John Wheeler said.

Wheeler says he hopes to get the tree cleared out by the end of the weekend.
