A football showdown between the two Dakotas kicks off Friday night.
SDSU takes on NDSU at the Fargodome in the FCS Semifinals.
A chance to play in the National Championship game next month is on the the line.
SDSU’s campus is quiet these days.
After all, the fall semester is over. But the jackrabbit fans are still loud and proud as ever.
“I’m so excited for tonight. It’s going to be a big rival game,” SDSU Student Bailey Sanken said.
The two rival teams met once before this season.
The Bison walked away with a 21-17 win over the Jacks.
The blue and yellow are looking to turn the tables this time around.
“I feel like we got this. I have confidence in them. I feel like we got this,” SDSU Student Garrith Moss said.
“They’re a good team, but we’re just as good. I don’t think it will be an upset if we win against them,” SDSU Student Taylor Knight said.
You can feel the excitement downtown, too.
Cubby’s Sports Bar and Grill is expected to be packed with hundreds of fans.
Some fans will be pulling double duty.
The SDSU women’s basketball team plays in Brookings Friday night.
“There’s usually people there that have radios in their ears and lots of times the announcer will give us updates so my heart will be at football also,” SDSU Fan Lynn Darnall said.
If the Jackrabbits win on the football field Friday night, they’ll make their first-ever appearance in the national title game.
The Bison are the defending National Champions.
“This is a very big game for us. Go Jacks!” SDSU Fan Tracy Nordstrom said.
The game gets underway at 7:00 p.m.
