One church in KELOLAND is celebrating a big milestone Sunday.
People filled the building of the East Side Lutheran Church to celebrate a century of worship.
Layne Nelson is the lead pastor of the church.
He says a small group of people formed East Side Lutheran Church in 1919 to fill a need for a congregation on the east side of Sioux Falls.
Nelson says today is a day to recognize how much the church has grown.
“This is a chance for us to celebrate the people who have gone before us and who have shaped us in faith. It’s a chance to celebrate the ministry that’s happened through the people of this congregation in and for the city of Sioux Falls to the glory of God,” Nelson said.
Nelson says the church still fills a big need in Sioux Falls.
