Dog in Brookings dies after left in car

BROOKINGS, S.D. (KELO) — With the hot weather in the forecast, it’s important to keep your furry friends cool.

The Brookings Police Department says it responded to four separate incidents since this weekend of dogs being left unattended in vehicles. 

Assistant police chief Derrick Powers says in one of those cases, the dog ended up dying. 

Another dog officials took to the animal shelter.
