CUSTER COUNTY, S.D. (KELO) — While snow is falling in eastern South Dakota, a wildland fire is burning out west.
As of Friday morning, Great Plains Fire Information reports the fire is at 58 acres and forward progress has been stopped.
The fire is in the Legion Lake area near the intersection of Highway 16A and Needles Highway. The Sheriff’s Office says high winds have knocked debris from trees onto Highway 16A.
The Custer County Sheriff’s Office posted this picture to its Facebook page Thursday night.
Fire crews will remain on scene to strengthen control lines and work on mop op operations.
