This storm didn’t just affect South Dakota.
First responders rescued dozens of people from floodwaters in Nebraska Thursday. Several creeks and rivers in Saunders County breached their banks, trapping residents in their homes.
At least one family saw up to four feet of water enter their house — and power outages are threats for many others. Some motorists also became trapped while trying to pass through flooded roads.
The governor is asking residents to stay off roads — and warned the flooding could continue for several days.
“We still have severe weather and we still have flooding, so please if you do not have to travel, do not travel,” Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts said.
Flooding is expected to continue into Friday evening.
