The Empire Mall is trying to spread Christmas cheer to kids with special needs.
The mall hosted its “Caring Santa” event Sunday morning.
Kids with special needs got a chance to meet Santa and get their picture taken before the mall opened.
Kristen Schaffer is the director of marketing and business development for the mall. She says seeing the kids’ faces is her favorite part of the event.
“It just keeps growing. The people that come really embrace and their kids love to be here and meet with Santa and tell him what’s on their wish list. It’s just very heartwarming to see these kids just brighten up when they see Santa,” Schaffer said.
Schaffer says the event is hosted before the mall is open in order to give the kids a quiet environment to meet Santa.
