Spring is officially here, and local golf courses are getting back into the swing of things. Elmwood Golf Course has opened its east course. Tuesday was the first day golfers could grab their clubs.
“We’re just really excited and people are really excited to get out and just play the game they love. The game of golf and we hope to be super busy out here,” Chad Veire, head golf pro, said.
Last year, the course opened in April. Veire is optimistic about opening in March this year.
“You know, living in KELOLAND, it’s tough. You know, you’ve got to go day by day here. One day it can be 70 and the next day it can be 30 and we’re just positive when we get those days. We want to get as many people out here as we can,” Veire said.
As for the golfers, Greg Satter is just happy to get back to the green.
“I got playing the game when I was just a little kid, just 12 or 13 and you know when you like to do things, you don’t have to have anybody make you do it,” Satter said.
Sioux Falls Golf plans to open Prairie Green on Wednesday.
