It’s week seven of flooding for Lake Poinsett.
While the water is finally beginning to recede, waves pushed by strong winds are battering shorelines.
The Hamlin County Emergency manager says some businesses are trying to stay afloat.
“Come down and support the businesses that are here, they ‘re struggling just like the homeowners, you know, come down and help them out, but if you use the lake, use some common sense safety first,” Hamlin County Emergency Manager David Schaefer said.
Schaefer says there’s still plenty of debris floating on the lake, so if you plan on using a boat, drive slowly.
