KELOLAND Media Group Takes Part In Founder’s Day of Caring

KELO Founders Day General

KELOLAND Media Group employees are volunteering with five local organizations this Friday for our annual Founder’s Day of Caring.

Every year on the third Friday of June, more than 100 Nexstar media group stations across the country spend part of the day volunteering in the community where its needed most. This is the second year, KELOLAND will have more than fifty volunteers donating their time to places like The Banquet.

Last year, nearly 400 meals were served through the day of caring. Take a look at why we’re involved and the impact it makes within the Sioux Falls community.

“Well it’s always been in our legacy that we give back to our communities, and Founder’s Day is just one of those days throughout the year that’s designated to give back to our communities, to serve the communities,” KELOLAND Media Group’s Director of Marketing Paul Farmer said. “We actually have up to four hours that employees can use of their work time to donate and volunteer and give back to the community.”

“And what a wonderful thing to give to someone else. Just that feeling of acceptance, and that feeling that they belong and that they’re worthy to sit down with our volunteers, share a meal and share fellowship,” The Banquet’s Director of Marketing Madeline Shields said.

Other organizations were helping out today are Dakotabilities, the St. Francis House, Call To Freedom, and the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House.
