Iowa Authorities Arrest Woman In Man’s Shooting Death

Authorities have arrested a 33-year-old Akron, Iowa, woman for second-degree murder.

It all started Friday morning, shortly after midnight, when authorities got a call that a man in his 40s had been shot.

He went to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators say the shooter is 33-year-old Becky Hebert of Akron.  Authorities arrested her in LeMars after piecing together what had happened.

She’s charged with second-degree murder.

Police say they have been called to the home for domestic abuse in the past; they also say there was a fight or argument leading up to the shooting.  The Plymouth County Sheriff says there were other people in the home when the shooting happened.

“There was a witness to the shooting.  There were also others in the residence at the time. Neither the witness or any others in the residence were injured in anyway,” Plymouth County Sheriff Mike Van Otterloo said.

Those others at home were children, police say.

We expect to know the victim’s name at some point on Saturday.
