TEA, S.D. (KELO — No public meeting due to COVID-19 and hundreds of thousands of dollars in assessments have some business owners along a very busy stretch of street crying foul.
The City of Tea just took over Highway 106 from Lincoln County in preparation for a major road expansion of a mile and half stretch from the interstate to town. But several landowners have been fighting how the City is coming up with its share of the project: by expecting them to pay up.
Coming up in Monday’s KELOLAND News Investigation at 10, Angela Kennecke takes these landowners’ concerns to the Tea city administrator and looks into how unusual it is for a major arterial road to be funded in this way.
