SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — How much is that doggy online? If the price is too good, it’s probably a scam.
Puppy scams really ramped up during the pandemic. Victims lost as estimated $3 million in online fake puppy sales.
Coming up in tonight’s KELOLAND News investigation into “A Doggone Scam,” Angela Kennecke gives us an unprecedented look at how two of these con artists operated, netting victims nationwide, including people right here in South Dakota.
“They began to try to make us believe they were going to ship the dog to us on this jet,” Jeannie Hudson, victim, said.
One of these puppy scammers out of Arkansas was already charged for the same crime, but according to officials, kept the operation going with the help of anther man.
