BOONVILLE, Mo. - An update on the ongoing investigation into the murder of Melissa Peskey:
According to Missouri authorities, someone shot Peskey from outside of her vehicle causing a crash. Her two children, ages, 5 and 11 were in the car at the time and were not injured.
Wednesday, KELOLAND Investigates learned that the Missouri State Highway Patrol is following up on 92 leads in the case.
Investigators tell us they are securing, photographing, and reconstructing the entire scene on Interstate 70.
They are also taking statements and conducting interviews.
Peskey's husband Ryan told KELOLAND Investigates after his wife's death that authorities informed him that he was a "person of interest" in the case. Peskey says that is because he didn't pick up his phone the night that troopers were called to the crash scene.
Wednesday Peskey spoke to Angela Kennecke again on the phone and said he is cooperating with authorities. Peskey also said that while he did not answer his phone at 11 p.m on December 13, when authorities called to notify him of his wife's death, he did call them back at 2 a.m.
The Peskey children are now under Ryan's care. Melissa Peskey's funeral was held on Sunday.
Melissa was part of the Jeff Merrill Team with Keller Williams Realty.
Merrill tells KELOLAND Investigates that Melissa never indicated she was leaving her job or wouldn't return.
Ryan Peskey told us his wife and children were on their way to visit friends in South Carolina.
Merrill also said he is surprised he has not been contacted by investigators in the case.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Missouri State Highway Patrol at (573) 751-1000.
