Man sues former Lake Norden police chief, DCI after abuse of power


LAKE NORDEN, S.D. (KELO) — Abuse of power led to the decertification of a small-town police officer in 2018.

Now, three years later, a man whose case helped lead to the decertification of Lake Norden Police Chief, Jimmy Murphy, is suing, not only Murphy but the town, several of its officials, and the DCI.

Nikolas Weeks filed the lawsuit in civil court. He was stopped not once, but twice by then Lake Norden Chief of Police, Jimmy Murphy.

This story has so many unusual twists and turns, it’s hard to believe it took place, only there are recordings to document what happened.
