A storage unit in Rapid City may hold answers to what happened to GEAR UP money.

Mid Central Educational Cooperative’s Interim Director, Bob Krietlow, told board members at their meeting that he will go out to Rapid City to check out the contents of the storage unit next week.

Board members tell KELOLAND News that Mid Central rented the unit, but no one currently knows what is inside of it. But they suspect it will be mostly office furniture and supplies.

However, if any files are found, they will be brought back to Platte and anything owned by GEAR UP will be turned over to its new administrators at Black Hills State University.

KELOLAND News has learned that investigators with the Department of Criminal Investigation will be with Krietlow when he opens up the storage unit.

If there is any evidence for the GEAR UP investigation, the DCI will be handling it.
