A victim of domestic violence speaks out

Investigates

We want to warn you, the following story is disturbing.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — It’s difficult to imagine the kind of abuse that can occur behind closed doors.

A Sioux Falls woman has gone public with her story as a victim of domestic violence and she captured it on video.

Nicole Friedman decided to show these videos to the world because she says she was fed up with the system designed to protect her. KELOLAND’s Angela Kennecke has been looking into victim’s rights issues for several weeks and tonight brings you Friedman’s story and what can go wrong in the process.

Kennecke: Were you ever seriously hurt?
Friedman: He bit my finger one time, and it actually hurt really bad.

Coming up tonight, we’ll look into why it took months for a no-contact order violation to result in an arrest in this case. Plus, why victims like Friedman have such a difficult time getting out of an abusive relationship.
