Hundreds of people have filed for unemployment insurance in South Dakota because of the government shutdown.
According to the South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulation, 227 federal employees have filed claims as a result of the furlough.
The partial government shutdown is the longest ever as it extends into its 27th day.
Several area organizations, banks and restaurants are offering ways to help those impacted by the shutdown.
