It can be difficult to visualize what a house will look like before it’s built or remodeled.
A new business in Sioux Falls is trying to make that easier through virtual reality goggles.
“What color kitchen do you want? What color of flooring? Do you want to change the shingles? Do you want to change from stone to brick? When people have that in front of them, it’s easier for them to say, ‘I didn’t know I liked brick as much as I liked stone,'” 605 Drafting + Design Owner Brent Julius said.
Julius just launched his company, 605 Drafting + Design. He’s showing off his new goggles at this weekend’s Sioux Empire Home Show.
“Have people visualize these things up front instead of paying for change orders in the rear end of a building process,” Julius said.
When you’re wearing the goggles, you can move from room to room with a joy stick.
“Building a house is a tedious process. When people put the goggles on, you see them smile,” Julius said.
In addition to the goggles, there are more than 240 other booths at the Home Show.
“There are different landscape ideas. We have different remodeling stuff in here from flooring to cabinets to light fixtures to bathroom accessories. Anything you can think of is out here,” Home Show Co-chair Michele Rislov said.
Unique ideas and products that could someday be commonplace.
“The 3D goggles are one of those fun things that eventually are going to be a common thing around here,” Julius said.
The Home Show is Saturday and Sunday at the Sioux Falls Convention Center.
