Hills-Beaver Creek Plays For Trenton Bass; Schools Across Minnesota Follow Suit

Number 28 is here.

At the gate, on the other team, in the crowd, and on the field. But Trenton Bass will be missed.

“He’s always been out here since I’ve been out here coaching, so it’s gonna be different for me and these guys over here. They’ve always played with him too, so we’re going to have to rally around each other,” Trenton’s brother Dalton Bass said.

Dalton Bass’s little brother is out after a neck injury at last week’s game.

“Very nervous, still am. It definitely makes it a lot easier. It’s pretty comforting, knowing that we have this loving community around,” Bass said.

That comfort, even crosses over to the Falcons.

“When you have your leader, team captain, that won’t be here playing with them today..for our kids to be respectful is important,” said Red Rock Central Head Coach Isaac Jenniges.

Remaining respectful while still playing a game of football.

“We’re dealing with kids, you know, 15, 16, 17 year old kids. So any time you have a situation like this, to try to do things as normal. Try to keep in that routine,” Jenniges said.

It’s been a hard week for this crowd.

“I think that helps him, too, that he feels what a big deal this is. All the support behind him,” Bass said.

Trenton Bass may not be out there, tonight. But you can feel he’s here.

“He’s definitely still here with this team. Coach Metzger has reiterated that throughout this whole week of practice,” Bass said.

Trenton Bass is still captain.

“He’s still a part of this team. A huge part of this team,” Bass said.

This team isn’t about to give away that spot.

That support goes far beyond southwest Minnesota.
We’re told more than 30 schools are raising money for the family.

Family says they are overwhelmed by how much love is being sent their way.
