Hermosa Man Charged With Identity Theft

A Hermosa man with a history of stealing everything from firefighting equipment to a chainsaw says he is not guilty of stealing someone’s identity.

KELOLAND News first told you about Tobin Nettifee in 2016.

That’s when he was sentenced for stealing power tools and other expensive equipment from the National Park Service, where he used to work.

Last month, he was charged with stealing someone’s identity.  Court papers say he stole mail and opened up a handful of illegal credit card accounts.

Nettifee says he’s not guilty. If found guilty of the latest charges, he could face up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

He is already in prison for grand theft out of Pennington County.
