Monday, June 28

Active COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations are up slightly in Monday’s update from the South Dakota Department of Health.

The COVID-19 death toll in South Dakota remains at 2,030.

There were 20 new total cases reported. The state’s total case count is now at 124,512, up from Friday’s report (124,492).

Active cases are now at 174, up from Friday (170).

Current hospitalizations from the virus are at 21, compared to Friday (15). Total hospitalizations throughout the pandemic are now at 6,851.

Total recovered cases are now at 122,308, up from Friday (122,292).

Total persons who tested negative is now at 363,415, up from Friday (363,141).

There were 294 new persons tested in the data reported Friday for a new persons-tested positivity rate of 6.8%. The latest seven-day PCR test positivity rate reported by the DOH is 2.4%. The latest one-day PCR test positivity rate is 2.1%.

There are 170 confirmed cases of B.1.1.7 reported in South Dakota. The numbers for the other variants include 15 cases of B.1.429 and three cases of P.1., two cases of the B.1.351 variant and one case of B.1.427 have been reported.

As of Monday, 56.61% of the population 12-years-old and above has received at least one dose while 52.19% have completed the vaccination series.

There’s been 367,758 doses of the Pfizer vaccine administered, 295,843 of the Moderna vaccine and 22,350 doses of the Janssen vaccine.

There have been 143,413 persons who have completed two doses of Moderna and 176,059 who have received two doses of Pfizer.

Friday, June 25

One new COVID-19 death was reported, while current hospitalizations are at the lowest level reported in Friday’s update from the South Dakota Department of Health.

The COVID-19 death toll in South Dakota is at 2,030. The new death was a woman in the 80+ age range.

There were 14 new total cases reported. The state’s total case count is now at 124,492 , up from Thursday’s report (124,478).

Active cases are now at 170, up from Thursday (164).

Current hospitalizations from the virus are at 15, compared to Thursday (18). Total hospitalizations throughout the pandemic are now at 6,859.

Total recovered cases are now at 122,292, up from Thursday (122,285).

Total persons who tested negative is now at 363,141, up from Thursday (362,843).

There were 312 new persons tested in the data reported Friday for a new persons-tested positivity rate of 4.4%. The latest seven-day PCR test positivity rate reported by the DOH is 2.7%. The latest one-day PCR test positivity rate is 1.9%.

As of Friday, 56.55% of the population 12-years-old and above has received at least one dose while 52.08% have completed the vaccination series.

There’s been 366,847 doses of the Pfizer vaccine administered, 295,613 of the Moderna vaccine and 22,285 doses of the Janssen vaccine.

There have been 143,413 persons who have completed two doses of Moderna and 176,059 who have received two doses of Pfizer.

No new deaths and a slight increase in active coronavirus cases were reported in Thursday’s COVID-19 update from the South Dakota Department of Health.

There were 10 new total cases reported. The state’s total case count is now at 124,478, up from Wednesday’s report (124,468).

While the difference in the total case count reported Thursday (124,478) and Wednesday (124,468) equals 10, when you add the PCR, or newly confirmed, cases (11) and antigen, or new probable, cases (2), there were 13 new cases.

The COVID-19 death toll in South Dakota is at 2,029.

Active cases are now at 164, up from Wednesday (162).

Current hospitalizations from the virus are at 18, compared to Wednesday (20). Total hospitalizations throughout the pandemic are now at 6,864.

Total recovered cases are now at 122,285, up from Wednesday (122,277).

Total persons who tested negative is now at 362,843, up from Wednesday (362,500).

There were 353 new persons tested in the data reported Thursday for a new persons-tested positivity rate of 2.8%. The latest seven-day PCR test positivity rate reported by the DOH is 2.7%. The latest one-day PCR test positivity rate is 2.3%.

As of Thursday, 56.47% of the population 12-years-old and above has received at least one dose while 51.98% have completed the vaccination series.

There’s been 366,035 doses of the Pfizer vaccine administered, 295,284 of the Moderna vaccine and 22,220 doses of the Janssen vaccine.

Wednesday, June 23

Two new deaths and a slight increase in active coronavirus cases were reported in Wednesday’s COVID-19 update from the South Dakota Department of Health.

There were 22 new total cases reported. The state’s total case count is now at 124,468, up from Tuesday’s report (124,446).

While the difference in the total case count reported Wednesday (124,468) and Tuesday (124,446) equals 22, when you add the PCR, or newly confirmed, cases (14) and antigen, or new probable, cases (9), there were 23 new cases.

The COVID-19 death toll in South Dakota is now at 2,029. The new deaths reported on Wednesday is a woman and a man in the 50-59 and 80+ age ranges.

Active cases are now at 162, up from Tuesday (151).

Current hospitalizations from the virus are at 20, compared to Tuesday (26). Total hospitalizations throughout the pandemic are now at 6,877.

Total recovered cases are now at 122,277, up from Tuesday (122,268).

Total persons who tested negative is now at 362,500, up from Tuesday (362,130).

There were 392 new persons tested in the data reported Wednesday for a new persons-tested positivity rate of 5.6%. The latest seven-day PCR test positivity rate reported by the DOH is 2.6%. The latest one-day PCR test positivity rate is 2.4%.

As of Wednesday, 56.41% of the population 12-years-old and above has received at least one dose while 51.90% have completed the vaccination series.

There’s been 365,348 doses of the Pfizer vaccine administered, 295,080 of the Moderna vaccine and 22,150 doses of the Janssen vaccine.

Tuesday, June 22

Active cases dropped slightly in data reported in Tuesday’s COVID-19 update from the South Dakota Department of Health.

The latest update includes cases from Friday through Monday (June 18-June 21).

There were 35 new total cases reported. The state’s total case count is now at 124,446, up from Monday’s report (124,411).

While the difference in the total case count reported Tuesday (124,446) and Monday (124,411) equals 35, when you add the PCR, or newly confirmed, cases (34) and antigen, or new probable, cases (2), there were 36 new cases.

The COVID-19 death toll in South Dakota remains at 2,027.

Active cases are now at 151, down from Monday (154).

Current hospitalizations from the virus are at 26, compared to Monday (31). Total hospitalizations throughout the pandemic are now at 6,893.

Total recovered cases are now at 122,268, up from Monday (122,230).

Total persons who tested negative is now at 362,130, up from Monday (361,411).

There were 754 new persons tested in the data reported Tuesday for a new persons-tested positivity rate of 4.6%. The latest seven-day PCR test positivity rate reported by the DOH is 2.6%. The latest one-day PCR test positivity rate is 1.2%.

As of Tuesday, 56.36% of the population 12-years-old and above has received at least one dose while 51.84% have completed the vaccination series.

Monday, June 21

No new deaths and another drop in active coronavirus cases were reported in Monday’s COVID-19 update from the South Dakota Department of Health.

Data was not reported on Friday. Monday’s update covers data through Thursday, June 17. Tuesday’s update will include the Friday through Monday (June 18-June 21) update.

There were 18 new total cases reported. The state’s total case count is now at 124,411, up from June 17 (124,393).

While the difference in the total case count reported Monday (124,411) and Thursday (124,393) equals 18, when you add the PCR, or newly confirmed, cases (17) and antigen, or new probable, cases (0), there were 17 new cases.

The COVID-19 death toll in South Dakota remains at 2,027.

Active cases are now at 154, down from Thursday (165).

Current hospitalizations from the virus are at 31, compared to Thursday (28). Total hospitalizations throughout the pandemic are now at 6,907, down from Thursday (6,918).

Total recovered cases are now at 122,230, up from Thursday (122,201).

Total persons who tested negative is now at 361,411, up from Thursday (361,164).

There were 264 new persons tested in the data reported Monday for a new persons-tested positivity rate of 6.4%. The latest seven-day PCR test positivity rate reported by the DOH is 2.0%. The latest one-day PCR test positivity rate is 3.3% (June 17).

Thursday, June 17

One new death and another drop in active coronavirus cases were reported in Thursday’s COVID-19 update from the South Dakota Department of Health.

On Thursday, 11 new total cases were reported. The state’s total case count is now at 124,393, up from Wednesday (124,382).

While the difference in the total case count reported Thursday (124,393) and Wednesday (124,382) equals 11, when you add the PCR, or newly confirmed, cases (16) and antigen, or new probable, cases (0), there were 16 new cases. The difference between Thursday’s total confirmed cases, or PCR, (109,088) and Wednesday’s total confirmed cases (109,077) is 11.

The COVID-19 death toll in South Dakota is now at 2,027. The new death reported on Thursday is a woman in the 70-79 age range from Pennington County.

Active cases are now at 165, down from Wednesday (170). The last time active cases of the coronavirus in South Dakota were this low was April 2020.

Current hospitalizations from the virus are at 28, compared to Wednesday (28). Total hospitalizations throughout the pandemic are now at 6,918, down from Wednesday (6,925).

On Wednesday, health officials announced they are now retracing COVID-19 hospitalizations to see the hospitalization was closely tied to the the COVID-19 infection, and not for other medical emergencies not associated with COVID-19.

Total persons who tested negative is now at 361,164, up from Wednesday (360,801).

There were 374 new persons tested in the data reported Thursday for a new persons-tested positivity rate of 2.9%. The latest seven-day PCR test positivity rate reported by the DOH is 1.6%. The latest one-day PCR test positivity rate is 1.5%.

As of Thursday, 56.08% of the population 12-years-old and above has received at least one dose while 51.42% have completed the vaccination series.

There’s been 361,407 doses of the Pfizer vaccine administered, 293,842 of the Moderna vaccine and 21,729 doses of the Janssen vaccine.

No new deaths and another drop in active coronavirus cases were reported in Wednesday’s COVID-19 update from the South Dakota Department of Health.

On Wednesday, five new total cases were reported. The state’s total case count is now at 124,382, up from Tuesday (124,377).

While the difference in the total case count reported Wednesday (124,382) and Tuesday (124,377) equals five, when you add the PCR, or newly confirmed, cases (10) and antigen, or new probable, cases (0), there were 10 new cases.

Active cases dropped below 200 according to Tuesday’s COVID-19 update from the South Dakota Department of Health.

On Tuesday, 21 new total cases were reported. The state’s total case count is now at 124,377, up from Monday (124,356).

While the difference in the total case count reported Tuesday (124,377) and Monday (124,356) equals 21, when you add the PCR, or newly confirmed, cases (23) and antigen, or new probable, cases (2), there were 25 new cases.

The COVID-19 death toll in South Dakota remains 2,026.

Active cases are now at 186, down from Monday (215). This is the first time cases have been below 200 since April 6, 2020.

Current hospitalizations from the virus are at 29, compared to Monday (26). Total hospitalizations throughout the pandemic are now at 6,933.

While the difference in the total case count reported Friday and Thursday equals eight, when you add the PCR, or newly confirmed, cases (10) and antigen, or new probable, cases (one), there were 11 new cases.

The COVID-19 death toll in South Dakota remains 2,026.

Active cases are now at 221, down from Thursday (230).

The COVID-19 death toll in South Dakota now stands at 2,026. The new deaths include two men and one woman in the following age ranges: 70-79 (2) and 80+ (1).

Active cases are now at 230, up from Wednesday (221).

On Thursday, 21 new total cases were reported. The state’s total case count is now at 124,335, up from Wednesday (124,314).

While the difference in the total case count reported Thursday and Wednesy equals 21, when you add the PCR, or newly confirmed, cases (21) and antigen, or new probable, cases (21), there were 23 new cases.

On Wednesday, 12 new cases were reported. The state’s total case count is now at 124,314 up from Tuesday (124,302).

The COVID-19 death toll in South Dakota remained at 2,023.

Current hospitalizations from the virus are at 38, compared to Tuesday (43). Total hospitalizations throughout the pandemic are now at 7,107.

Total recovered cases are now at 122,070, up from Tuesday (122,050).

There are 168 cases of B.1.1.7 reported in South Dakota. The numbers for the other variants include 15 cases of B.1.429 and three cases of P.1., two cases of the B.1.351 variant and one case of B.1.427 have been reported.

The COVID-19 death toll in South Dakota is now at 2,023. The new death was a man in the 80+ age range in Pennington County.

Active cases continued to drop and are now at 229 from Monday (242). The last time active cases were under 240 was on April 7, 2020.

On Tuesday, 29 new cases were reported. The state’s total case count is now at 124,302 up from Monday (124,273).

Current hospitalizations from the virus are at 43, up from Monday (40). Total hospitalizations throughout the pandemic are now at 7,154.

Total recovered cases are now at 122,050, up from Monday (122,009).

Total persons who tested negative is now at 358,547, up from Monday (357,934).

There were 642 new persons tested in the data reported Tuesday for a new persons-tested positivity rate of .04%. The latest seven-day PCR test positivity rate reported by the DOH is 1.9%. The latest one-day PCR test positivity rate is 2.7%.

On Friday, 19 new cases were reported. The state’s total case count is now at 124,261 up from Thursday (124,242).

While the difference in the total case count reported (124,261) and (124,242) equals 19, when you add the PCR, or newly confirmed, cases (14) and antigen, or new probable, cases (6), there were 20 new cases.

Two new COVID-19 deaths were reported. The deaths were two women in the follow age ranges: 40 – 49 (1) and 80+ (1). The deaths were in Pennington and Todd counties.

There’s been 347,595 doses of the Pfizer vaccine administered, 288,970 of the Moderna vaccine and 20,412 doses of the Janssen vaccine.

There have been 139,096 persons who have completed two doses of Moderna and 164,662 who have received two doses of Pfizer.

An additional five COVID-19 deaths were reported as active coronavirus cases continued to drop in Wednesday’s update from the South Dakota Department of Health.

Active cases are now at 300, down from Monday (382). The last time active cases of the coronavirus were this low was April 9, 2020 (280) and April 10, 2020 (353).

On Wednesday, 36 new cases were reported. The state’s total case count is now at 124,227 up from Monday (124,191).

According to DOH Communications Director Daniel Bucheli, this latest update includes cases reported Saturday through Tuesday.

While the overall death toll increased by five on Wednesday, the deaths of two women and five men were reported in the following age ranges: 30-39 (1); 70-79 (1) and 80+ (3).

The death toll is now at 2,019.

Current hospitalizations from the virus are at 41, compared to Monday (44). Total hospitalizations throughout the pandemic are now at 7,504.

Total recovered cases are now at 121,908, up from Monday (121,795).

Total persons who tested negative is now at 356,438, up from Monday (355,607).

There were 867 new persons tested in the data reported Wednesday for a new persons-tested positivity rate of 4.15%. The latest seven-day PCR test positivity rate reported by the DOH is 3.2%. The latest one-day PCR test positivity rate is 1.5%.

As of Wednesday, 54.59% of the population 12-years-old and above has received at least one dose while 49.48% have completed the vaccination series.
